This is the perfect class for you if you’ve made some bags but want to take your bag making skills to the next level with some new techniques and skills. This stylish and super functional bag has a variety of features you can choose to include depending on your skill level.

In the following class, one will learn:
- How to lay out a simple pattern on fabric
- Fabric cutting
- Fabric pinning
- How to make elasticized pockets
- How to install a recessed zipper in a bag
- How to customize your bag! There's a couple ways to customize the pattern, like creating divided interior pockets or a zippered lining pocket
- How to make a super tote from start to finish!
This class will be taught by Niku Arbabi of xostitches.net
The course will take place over two days for 7 hours total. It is designed to accommodate 3-6 students. Pattern is included in class price.
Prerequisites: One must know how to operate a sewing machine on their own and know basic straight stitches. If you haven't touched a sewing machine in over a year, we ask that you sign up for Meet a Sewing Machine or Knowing Your Sewing Machine.
PREP WORK BEFORE CLASS: Cut out fabric and interfacing pieces, fuse interfacing.
Sewing machines can be rented for $5 for the course. It is recommended that you bring a machine if you own one so that you may learn to sew on the machine that you'll be using the most.
-*1/2 yard front/back and exterior pocket
-*1 1/2 lining and outside pocket lining
-*(2) 1/4 yard cuts for straps
-*2/3 yard exterior gusset (sides and bottom) and interior pocket pieces
-*2 1/4 yards fusible interfacing (Pellon SF101)
-*1 yard ByAnnie’s Soft and Stable
-*18” zipper for recessed top (optional)
-*1 yard 1/4” wide elastic
Optional trim: 15” (or 1 package) of 1/2″ (aka regular "maxi") piping
Optional closures: 14mm (small) magnetic snap or 2” (or one package) of 3/4” wide hook + loop tape (aka velcro)
Basic tool kit:
-*Fabric marking pen or tailor’s chalk
-*Extra sewing machine needles (size 80/12 and 90/14)
