Knits can be a little scary if you haven't worked with them before, but we're here to tell you...
The Cloth Pocket Studio is proud to offer a Knit Apparel course where one will learn how to:
- Read a knit apparel sewing pattern
- Use a serger and learn sewing machine techniques for knits
- Set a knit sleeve
- Gather a skirt
- Make a collar
- Set in hidden pockets
- Finish a knit hem
- Make a wearable knit dress from start to finish!
This class will be taught by Lilia Beaman of Western Whims.
The course will take place over two days for three hours each (six hours total). It is designed to accommodate 4-8 students.
Prerequisites: You need to know how to use a sewing machine on your own and how to successfully sew a straight stitch. It is recommended that you have completed a few woven projects on your own.
CLASS PRICE INCLUDES THE COST OF THE PATTERN, WHICH WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR PICK UP AT THE CLOTH POCKET.
STUDENTS MUST CUT DRESS OUT PRIOR TO THE START OF THE CLASS. If you need time and space for cutting, please join us for our Sunday Open Sewing Lab. We will be combining views, so that everyone will be sewing collars and the sleeve length of their choice.
Sewing machines can be rented for $5 for the course. It is recommended that you bring a machine if you own one so that you may learn to sew on the machine that you'll be using the most. Sergers will be provided at no cost to the students, but feel free to bring one if you have one!
