CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE!
In our Closet Case Jeans class, one will learn how to:
- Read an apparel sewing pattern for jeans
- Install a front fly zipper
- Insert pant pockets and patch pockets
- Sew a crotch seam and side seams on jeans
- Finish a seam with a serger
- Find a better fit on jeans
- Sew a waistband and belt loops
- Create a buttonhole and sew a button
- Sew an easy jean hem
This class will be taught by Lilia Beaman. She has a B.S. in Textiles and Apparel Design from The University of Texas and owns and operates Western Whims, a local apparel company. She has been sewing for over eight years and shows no signs of stopping!
The course will take place over four days, two weekends, for three hours each (12 hours total). It is designed to accommodate 3-6 students.
Prerequisites: Recent sewing experience; have successfully completed several woven projects on your own. Familiarity with zippers and zipper feet.
JEANS MUST BE CUT OUT BEFORE COMING TO CLASS. Your pattern will be available for pick-up after registration and before the start of the class. If you need time, space, and assistance, please sign up for one of our Open Sewing Labs.
CLASS PRICE INCLUDES THE COST OF THE PATTERN. YOU GET TO CHOOSE EITHER THE MORGAN BOYFRIEND JEANS OR GINGER SKINNY JEANS. Please specify your choice of pattern when registering for the class. Sewing machines can be rented for $5 for the course. It is recommended that you bring a machine if you own one so that you may learn to sew on the machine that you'll be using the most.
