Woven Apparel - Grainline Archer Shirt | Advanced Class

Learn all the ins and outs of a classic button up shirt!

In our Grainline Studio Archer class, one will learn how to:

  • Read an apparel sewing pattern for a classic button up shirt
  • Install a button placket
  • Sew a yoke
  • Topstitching
  • Set a sleeve
  • Sewing a shirt collar
  • Make a classic button up shirt from start to finish!

This class will be taught by Dixie Davis. 

The course will take place over four days, Tuesdays and Thursday, for three hours each (12 hours total). It is designed to accommodate 3-6 students.

Prerequisites: Ability to operate a sewing machine on your own; have successfully completed a few intermediate level woven projects on your own.

CLASS PRICE INCLUDES THE COST OF THE PATTERN. YOU GET TO CHOOSE EITHER THE Grainline Archer or the men's Thread Theory Fairfield Button Up (pattern style varies). Please specify your choice of pattern when registering for the class

Sewing machines can be rented for $5 for the course. It is recommended that you bring a machine if you own one so that you may learn to sew on the machine that you'll be using the most.

-Sewing Machine (one can be rented for $5)
-*2-2.75 yards 45" wide shirt weight fabrics such as silk chiffon, silk crepe de chine, cotton shirting, chambray, lightweight denim, and flannel.
-*1 yard of featherweight fusible interfacing
-*Fabric Scissors
-*Seam ripper
-9  3/8” to 1/2” buttons
-Paper Scissors
-Pen/Pencil for taking notes
