Woven Apparel - Ruby Top/Dress | Beginner Class

In our Made by Rae Ruby Dress/Top class, one will learn how to:

  • Read an apparel sewing pattern
  • Sew and press a seam
  • Finish a seam with a serger
  • Make matching bias tape
  • Finish a bodice with facing and bias trim
  • Gather a bodice and attach to a yoke
  • Finish a hem

This class will be taught by Amy Gennrich of HelloAmyJane.

The course will take place over two days for 3 hours each (6 hours total). It is designed to accommodate 4-8 students.

Prerequisites: Ability to operate a sewing machine on your own; have successfully completed a couple of woven projects on your own.

CLASS PRICE INCLUDES THE COST OF THE PATTERN WHICH CAN BE PICKED UP ANY TIME AFTER PAYING FOR THE COUSE.

Sewing machines can be rented for $5 for the course. It is recommended that you bring a machine if you own one so that you may learn to sew on the machine that you'll be using the most.

-Sewing Machine (one can be rented for $5)
-*1 1/2 yards of fabric (broadcloth is easiest to work with)for top and 2 yards for dress; PREWASH BEFORE CUTTING
-*1/2 yard of fabric for yoke
-*Thread
Basic Toolkit:
-*Fabric scissors
-*Straight pins
-*Seam/hem gauge
-*Thread snippers
-*Seam ripper
-*Fabric marking pen or tailor’s chalk
-*Extra sewing machine needles (size 80/12 and 90/14)
