Projects include a skirt, tank top, shorts or lounge pants, and t-shirt reconstruction
Explore your own personal style and learn skills to express it creatively!
You'll take home all your customized patterns so you can make them again in all your favorite fabrics!
This class will be taught by Niku Arbabi of xostitches.net
Prerequisites: This camp is for teens (12-17) who are confident in sewing basics and can set up and use their machine independently. If the last time you’ve sewn was more than a month or two before camp, or if you want to make sure you have a solid foundation of basics before jumping into garment sewing, contact us as soon as possible to discuss your skill level, and we will be happy to set up a private lesson to get you up to speed!
*Camp waivers will be emailed when you sign up. Please be sure to fill it out and bring it on the first day of camp. If you do not receive the waiver email, shoot us a message at firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll make sure you get it.
Thursday T-shirt Recon
Bring a knit t-shirt or tank top to alter, reconstruct, or turn into a dress on Thursday. I’ll provide additional fabric and trim to incorporate into your project
Campers will select their own fabric for projects. On the first day, we’ll walk campers through fabric selection and choices in the shop and gather what you’ll need for the week’s projects, and parents can purchase at pick up. Campers receive a 10% discount on all fabric and supplies for camp.
We recommend bringing a basic toolkit with fabric shears, long pearlized head straight pins, thread snippers, seam ripper, fabric marking pen or chalk, magnetic seam guide, hem/seam gauge, and extra bobbins and machine needles for your machine. Be sure to label everything!
We will have toolkits available for campers to purchase. Additional tools and supplies will be provided.
Patterns will be provided and are included in camp cost. Campers will take home patterns in their own size for future projects.
Studio machines are available to rent for camp, but we strongly encourage you to bring your sewing machine if you have one so you can learn techniques on the machine you’ll use at home.
Note: machines must be in good working condition, so if it hasn’t been cleaned or serviced recently, please call or email Tessa to schedule machine servicing before camp.
